(1) Fullerene nanoparticle–C60(with a fullerene :peptide molar ratio greater than 1 : 8) can dramatically preventb-sheet formation of Aβ(16–22) peptides; (2) The
strong interactions between the fullerene nanoparticles and Aβ(16–22) peptides significantly weaken the peptide–peptide interaction that is important for β-sheet formation, thus retarding Aβ(16–22) fibrillation; (3) When the number of C60 increases to three (with a 3 : 8 molar ratio of C60 to Aβ) , we find that the β-sheet content has a considerable decrease from 44.5% (without C60) to 25.7% (with 3C60) and the coil increases rapidly from 50.7% to 67.9%;
